Happy 10th Birthday Operation Canasta!

It has been 10 amazing years since that day when a group of 8 friends joined forces and creativity moved by the grim reality of destitute children in Argentina.

Today, together with The Ivy Inter-American Foundation I want to express our gratitude for your support which enabled Operation Canasta to provide grants totaling $400,000 since 2001.

As a parent and a pediatrician, I always cared for the physical, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing of children in Argentina. With Operation Canasta, we have donated food, milk, computers, clothing, school uniforms, textbooks, school supplies and furniture. We have built a sports field, and also a small house. We have donated medical supplies and equipment. We have procured funds to repair many of the facilities so even more children can benefit from the services provided by the different non-profit organizations we support. The common factor in these donations is that you made it possible with your generosity. You helped to protect children and to improve their change lives.

This letter is our fundraising event for 2011. In Argentina the school year ends in the month of December. Our goals are to support our organizations with their summer programs to keep these children in a safe environment while their parents work or attempt to find a job. Our objective is to raise funds to provide grants for the new projects coming in for the next year.
