Saul
Francisco Saul got in touch with the Hogar in 2000 and some time later
he was admitted to it. He came from a very complicated background
in terms of family situation, spending most of his time in the street,
trying to survive as he could.
His father was an alcoholic and both of them lived with his grandmother,
along with other uncles and cousins. His father hardly worked and when
he did he used to spend the little money he made in alcohol.
Coming from such a situation, Francisco had a very aggressive and problematic
behavior within the Hogar, especially at the beginning, which provoked
an adverse reaction towards him from his classmates and their parents.
The same happened at school, where he still was in 2nd grade in spite
of being 10 years old.
Due to this situation he was enrolled in a special program called PROITE,
where he could advance two years in one at school, with the assistance
of a complete psycho-pedagogic team. His behavior started to change clearly
for the better.
At the end of 2003 he finished his primary school. His father died.
Today, with 15 years of age, he is in the 1st year of high school, and
he moves forward in it with difficulty but also with determination. He
has also started a training program to become a voluntary fireman. When
he finishes his high school, he will be in the position of joining the
Firemen Department or even enter the Police Academy if he chooses to
do so.
