The Valero Family
Four children of this family, of ages between 13 and 6 years, were admitted to the Hogar in 2002. The mother of this family was very sick and was hospitalized most of the time. Being her eldest daughter, Antonia, 15 yeas of age, who had to assist her permanently. The father, a construction worker, had to work 30 miles from the place where they lived. The natural result of this difficult situation was that the minors had to remain alone in the house every day, all day long. The lives of these kids became progressively normal after their admission to the Hogar. In January 2002, the mother passed away and Antonia was able to get into the Hogar herself. Julia, one of her younger sisters read at the occasion of the inauguration of the new premises of the Hogar a very touching letter in which she described the positive changes in her life and all the happiness she had been able to find at the Hogar. She even organized a celebration of her sister Antonia’s 15th birthday party.
